A Word From Dru

From the Artist:

"This year is one of my most ambitious as I attempt to release 6 new images. Upcoming aircraft include the Apache   Longbow, C-141, C-17, CH-47, F-16- and F-111.   I've also encouraged my friend Mickey Harris to release his own aviation print of the Memphis Belle entitled "Lady of Grace."

Additionally, I'm advancing my teaching practice at my school, while I'm trying to teach myself more about Glamour art, Fantasy art, and more about 3D computer animation.  I'm also in the middle of remodeling my house to accommodate visiting interns.

In my latest paintings, I'm continuing to attempt to strike a balance between aesthetics and technical accuracy as I utilize more and more "artistic license." Since  my art has always been about the aircraft in, and acting in concert with it's environment, I felt that it was a further evolution of my paintings to use the environment to enhance the beauty of the aircraft.

With the excerption of the Apache, which characterizes an "in your face" attitude, most of the aircraft are seen in moments of tranquil beauty.

Many people have pointed out that I have chosen to portray aircraft that are not as "flashy," or "beautiful" as other aircraft in the inventory. I couldn't disagree more. To me, the aircraft I depict are stunning monuments to the challenging missions they carry out, and they, and the people who fly and maintain them are no less vital to freedom and world security than anything else in the air, sea, or ground. True, some are not as popular as other aircraft, but  I enjoy championing these quiet, reliable, unsung heroes.

Thanks for all the support, I’d like to wish all a healthy and prosperous year."
