Step by Step: Apache Longbow Part 3

longbow17.jpg (15034 bytes) The most distant mountains are oversprayed with an opaque blue-gray to push them back further. Next the closer mountains are painted with less blue. Rennaisance painters discovered that as objects are farther away, they appear to desaturate and turn blue.

Foilage begins using alternating light and dark greens. Note that the helicopter is covered to protect it from overspray and errant drips of
paint.

longbow20.jpg (16989 bytes) Helicopter is still covered with paper and a transparent frisket mask while thewaterfall and surrounding rock is rendered using a conventional brush.

The rock foundation is rendered using a conventional brush.

longbow22.jpg (13588 bytes) Note how the rocks beneath the Apache are lighter at the bottom and fading up to darkness. This is due to the light that is reflecting off the water.
